Salary Range: $4304 - $6120/Monthly


Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; exempt classification.


Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Student Services in the College of Professional and Global Education (PaGE), and working closely with the University's Associate Director in the Center for Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for advising students at our Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) campus regarding all aspects of student financial aid programs and processes. The incumbent will demonstrate a commitment to student success by his/her responsibility for coordinating financial aid for students enrolled in PaGE programs. The Financial Aid Advisor is required to apply federal, state, CSU Chancellor's Office Executive Orders, institutional policies and regulations to ensure compliance in all functions of awarding financial aid.


Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business or job-related field. Two years of full-time professional experience in Financial Aid or one of the student services program areas or in a related field. Must possess excellent skills in written and verbal communication and the ability to: read, interpret and apply complex rules and regulations accurately; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the University community; think independently and make professional judgments; and recognize, analyze and resolve complex student eligibility cases with sensitivity and responsibility for the needs of the program requirements. Incumbent must be able to travel to and from the DTLA campus and Cal State LA. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.


Desired Qualifications: Current knowledge of federal and state Financial Aid policies and regulations and knowledge of CSU and Cal State L.A. policies and procedures
