LEAD CUSTODIAN

Salary Range: $2,921 - $5,138/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday 3.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.; non-exempt classification.

 

Essential Functions: The incumbent guides, checks, corrects, reports on and works with a group of custodians; trains and instructs custodians in the proper use of equipment, materials and accepted custodial techniques; assists custodians in the performance of their duties; makes inspections; reports equipment and repairs needs; reports needs for additional supplies; reports absences of personnel and may assume absent custodian's duties; assists in the security of the area assigned; assists in the evaluation of staffs' performance; cooperates with administration, faculty and students in moving furniture and equipment and in facilities arrangements for special events. The incumbent may regularly perform custodial work as part of his/her duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to two years of custodial or janitorial experience wherein the individual has shown the potential for exercising working supervision over others. The incumbent must have: general knowledge of methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment used in custodial work; working knowledge of safety and sanitation measures appropriate for custodial work; the ability to lead the work of others including ability to provide on-the-job training; the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with administration, faculty, students, and other employees; the ability to analyze situations and take effective action; the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; and have demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
