Salary Range: $2912 - $4592/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday ,8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Temporary appointment expires on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under general supervision of the Department Chair, the Administrative Support Assistant will provide general office, clerical, and secretarial support for students, faculty, and staff. The incumbent will: staff the department front desk, respond to questions from students, faculty and others via phone, email or in person; provide administrative support to the department's course coordinators; assist the department Associate Chair in scheduling classes; and assist with the hiring paperwork for lecturers and TAs.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Two years of full-time general office experience, which includes providing work direction or acting as a lead. Incumbent must possess general working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures and thorough knowledge of: office methods, procedures, and practices; support technology and systems including Microsoft Office and GET; maintenance of PC-based databases; and English grammar, punctuation, and spelling with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to: learn, interpret independently, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures; identify deviations from applicable policies; recognize multicultural value systems and work accordingly; use computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others; and interact in a supportive manner with varying levels of staff, students, and members of the general public from diverse backgrounds. Incumbent must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.
