Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and Friday 8.00 a.m., may include some weekends and evenings; exempt classification. Temporary one-year appointment; may be extended; may become permanent.


Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Associate Director of Recruitment, the incumbent is responsible for providing information regarding Cal State LA admission requirements and processes and developing relationships with prospective students, parents, and the on- and off-campus community. The incumbent will: work with special populations at designated sites with the goal of increasing applications, enrollment deposits, and ultimate enrollment at Cal State LA.; review data, in conjunction with the Associate Director, from specific feeder schools, applicants yield rates, student demographics, and student enrollment patterns to help develop non-traditional recruitment and marketing strategies to reach special populations; develop and implement sustained partnerships with schools, faith-based partners, various community entities, and other non-profit organizations to identify and recruit targeted populations; assist in the design, creation, and execution of e-marketing and social media campaigns to create interest and increased yield rates of targeted applicant populations; participate in designated CSU Outreach Initiative activities as requested; visit high schools, community colleges, and other sites for the purpose of making group presentations, assisting prospective students, and meeting with counselors and other school staff and parents; represent the University at college nights, college fairs, career day events, presentations, and other recruitment and enrollment related events; work closely and coordinate activities with other on-campus entities; provide unofficial transcript review when appropriate to advise prospective students on admission requirements and major selection; research and respond to inquiries and assist with resolution of concerns as appropriate; and assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of student ambassador staff.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Equivalent of two-years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. Experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for future growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one-year of the professional experience. The incumbent must demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills; ability to speak in public forums and conduct presentations; and demonstrate the ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/ multi-ethnic environment. Due to extensive travel, access to a reliable form of transportation is required.
