Salary Range: $4304 - $6120/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire; may be extended, may become permanent; Evening and occasional weekend work may be required. Exempt classification.

 

Essential FunctionsThe EOP Admissions and Recruitment Specialist is responsible for the effective recruitment of qualified students into the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at Cal State LA. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of EOP Admissions and Outreach, the incumbent will provide information concerning EOP admissions policies and program requirements, university admissions events and deadlines, and other pertinent information to prospective student applicants. The EOP Admissions and Recruitment Specialist will also manage the EOP Admissions & Outreach presence on social media. In addition to communicating to and working with students who are deemed eligible for EOP, the incumbent will actively collaborate with campus units and community partners, such as the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, the Center for Student Financial Aid & Scholarships, University Housing and Residence Life, and high school and community college counselors. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing strategic outreach and assistance to student populations underrepresented in the CSU, to include foster youth, underrepresented ethnic groups, and students from historically underserved communities. In addition to responsibilities related to outreach and recruitment, the EOP Admissions and Recruitment Specialist will serve as the Residential Team Leader for Summer Bridge.

Required Qualifications & Experience:  Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Two years of professional experience in Student or Academic Affairs at a public or private institution of higher education. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Incumbent must have a working knowledge and understanding of the CSU and university admissions policies and academic requirements for applicant eligibility. Incumbent must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and possess the ability to speak in public forums and conduct presentations. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. Travel and access to a reliable form of transportation is required.
