ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT, UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT

California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator III position.

The Position: The Associate Vice President for University Advancement is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the fundraising team under University Advancement division.  Specific responsibilities include building a principal giving program with designated assigned prospects and overseeing the activities related to principal giving and major gifts.  These responsibilities include Presidential-level activities, events, stewardship, and external engagement with alumni and friends of the university, and oversight of principal giving as it relates to institutional priorities. The Associate Vice President will: oversee the development of a successful principal giving and major gift programs; manage and oversee a team of Major Gift Officers; provide strategic oversight and leadership in developing multi-year fundraising and business plans and standards to achieve fundraising goals as they relate to Cal State LA’s fundraising initiatives; manage a portfolio of principal and major or gift prospects through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship phases; collaborate with the prospect research initiatives to prioritize the prospects that are reviewed as they pertain to leadership giving within the context of university priorities; in tandem with the Senior Executive Director of Donor Engagement and Special Initiatives, guide the gift processing and stewardship of principal and major gifts; plan and implement a stewardship program that will appropriately thank principal and major gift donors; plan Presidential events for principal and major gift donors; and ensure maximum private support for assigned areas through strong leadership, ensuring adherence to top performance measures, and integrating a philosophy of collaboration, positive attitude and performance throughout the advancement team.

Required Qualifications and Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible fundraising, alumni engagement, and management experience in advancement. Demonstrated success in closing principal and major gifts. The incumbent will have: demonstrated successful experience working with internal and external constituents, boards, and foundations; successful experience in leading, managing, and evaluating personnel; experience managing budgets; personal integrity; sound work ethics; effective communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; strong analytical skills; demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts; knowledge and experience in implementing a principal and major giving program; knowledge of best practices for principal and major gift fundraising; understanding and knowledge of IRS rules and regulations; the ability to build strong collaborative relationships with the campus community; developed departmental goals and objectives; and evaluated and streamlined processes to ensure efficiency and eliminate redundancy. Incumbent must demonstrate an ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment:  The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
