Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Starting Date:

Minimum Qualifications:

1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering (or other closely related disciplines) from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/17/2023).

2) Evidence of teaching or mentoring experience.

3) Evidence of research experience and scholarly publications.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Autonomous Control, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based & Machine-Learning Control.

2) Evidence of industry experience or industry collaborations.

3) Successful experience in generating financial resources through grants/contracts.

4) Teaching experience in upper-division or graduate level.

5) Publications in scholarly journals.

Duties:

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

 

Faculty members also participate in the development of program curricula and courses, coordination of courses in their areas of expertise, and preparation for the ABET accreditation.

The College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (https://www.calstatela.edu/ecst) offers ABET-accredited BS programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, and BS degrees in Aviation Administration, Engineering Technology, and Fire Protection Administration and Technology. The College also offers MS degrees in Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Industrial Management. The Department:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (https://www.calstatela.edu/ecst/ece) offers programs of study leading to a BSEE and an MSEE. The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department at Cal State LA is poised to provide a solid foundation in this vital field of Engineering by offering a well-rounded, up-to-date curriculum that provides an optimal balance between theory and practice and prepares you for the challenges of being the innovators and leaders of the field. The areas of specialization in the EE programs include biomedical engineering, electronics, communication, control systems, computer engineering, and power systems. The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (https://www.abet.org).
