Salary Range: $3,551 - $6,402/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary position, ends on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Head of Interlibrary Loan, the incumbent performs Interlibrary Loan (ILL) borrowing and lending processes and provides assistance to the Library Course Reserves unit and the Service Desk. ILL borrowing-related duties include, but are not limited to: bibliographic checking and verification; utilizing databases on the campus network; interpreting and applying polices and regulations when communicating with faculty and students regarding the status of their requests; and consulting with other libraries regarding borrowed materials, including over dues and renewals. In terms of ILL Lending, the incumbent processes items in accordance with Library policies and regulations; uses ILL systems; and assists Head of ILL in other areas. Duties in support of Course Reserves services include use of Reserves systems. Incumbent creates records for materials processed for courses on a semesterly basis; applies established Reserve policies and procedures in processing course materials; and applies current copyright laws and fair use practices to the processing. Processing must be accomplished within the established processing time standards. Incumbent reports emergency situations; resolves or reports patron problems; and supervises student assistants who work in the Reserves unit in the absence of the unit Head. Finally, incumbent provides assistance to Library patrons at the Service Desk and functions as supervisor of the Service Desk student assistants on a rotating basis as needed. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the opening and closing of the Library Building as assigned and reports facilities problems and emergency situations on an as needed basis. The Senior Interlibrary Loan Assistant will act as a member of the Operations & User Experience team.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Three years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must possess good interpersonal skills; ability to process materials requested for Interlibrary Loan and Reserves, and to perform service desk tasks, according to established policies and regulations within a timely manner. Ability to work well under pressure, work independently and ability to adjust priorities as necessary.Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience working in academic library. Ability to adapt to change in a transitional environment. Demonstrated experience working with a variety of the Library’s integrated library system modules.
