ASSOCIATE DEAN, COLLEGE OF NATURAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator III position.

The Position: The Associate Dean will report to the Dean of the College and assist the Dean in all aspects of college administration and management, including broad responsibilities in the following areas: enrollment management; faculty professional development/affairs; student development/affairs; research and economic development, and curriculum (program oversight and review); innovation and assessment. The Associate Dean will also assist the Dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences (NSS) in outreach and public relations, grant writing, and outside funding development. In addition, the Associate Dean will coordinate transfer programs with feeder community colleges, particularly in multiple subject matter programs, and represent the College when the Dean is absent.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Must be qualified to be a tenured full professor in a department or program withing the Natural and Social Sciences disciplines. Must possess a PhD or other terminal degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline or area represented within the College. The incumbent must demonstrate significant and successful administrative experience, financial acumen, and proven leadership skills. The incumbent must possess excellent organizational, administrative, communication (both oral and written), and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff; and an ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. A task may be included as part of the interview process.

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As of January 1, 2022, the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Desired Qualifications: Three years of leadership experience (e.g., chairperson or program director) in higher education administration. Administrative experience and demonstrated success in curriculum development, University policies and procedures, faculty personnel processes and procedures, student affairs policies and procedures, lecturer retention, and evaluating non­tenure track faculty. Demonstrated success in college-level teaching at the undergraduate program levels; research, scholarly and/or creative activities in the fields within the college. Familiarity with a collective bargaining environment and Cal State LA/CSU policies and regulations governing curriculum, instruction and student affairs.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $6,891 - $22,119/monthly. Budgeted hiring salary range is $ 6,891 - $15,000/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
