Library Reserves Specialist III
University Library


Salary Range: $3528 - $6505/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Scheduled work hours may be adjusted to meet operational needs of the University and unit; temporary appointment expires on or before one-year from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Reporting to the Head of Operations & User Experience/Services, the Library Reserves Coordinator will manage and supervise Library Reserve operations; suggesting and implementing changes which will streamline operations and make reserve interactions with library patrons more efficient. This position will keep current with copyright interpretation and use of the unified library management system, e-reserve processing and course reading list solutions. The Library Reserves Coordinator provides assistance and support for the information services desk; and may collect and compile statistics.


Required Qualifications & Experience: Four years of full-time related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Thorough understanding of bibliographic and item records. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills; and strong written and verbal skills. Ability to: work well under pressure; work independently; and adjust priorities when necessary. Demonstrated ability to: process print and electronic reserves; perform circulation tasks according to established policies and procedures in a timely manner; and improve workflows. Demonstrated, strong commitment to user experience and services, and improving the user experience. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience working with the unified library management system and course resource list solutions. Experience with planning and providing reserves services in an academic library. Familiarity with: Library of Congress, Superintendent of Documents, and Dewey classification schedules; copyright and fair use guidelines as they apply to print and electronic course reserve materials; and with copyright and fair use guidelines as they apply to print and electronic course reserve materials. Ability to adapt to change in a transitional environment. Ability to think critically and responsively about their impact on the service goals of the library.
