California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator III position.

The College: The College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (http://www.calstatela.edu/ecst) offers ABET-accredited BS programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, and BS degrees in Aviation Administration, Engineering Technology, and Fire Protection Administration and Technology. The College also offers MS degrees in Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Industrial Management. Our students primarily come from the Los Angeles region, the majority are in their family’s first generation to attend college, and they are deeply committed to strengthening their communities. Our faculty are committed to research and teaching in a supportive atmosphere that helps students prepare for professional careers.

 

The Position:  Reporting to the Dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology, the Associate Dean is a member of the College Leadership Team and has a key role in implementing the College’s Strategic Priorities. The Associate Dean assists the Dean in all aspects of college administration and management including broad responsibilities in the following major areas: support for initiatives related to equity, diversity, and inclusion; curriculum oversight as it pertains to assessment, accreditation, and program review; undergraduate and graduate program development and oversight; scheduling and enrollment management; outreach and recruitment; retention and graduation; advisement and student affairs; technical operations and infrastructure for research and instruction; and coordination of College special events. In the absence of the Dean, serves as Acting Dean. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all of our students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences. To this end, the successful candidate will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. In addition, the successful candidate will be ready to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in our university’s shared commitment to the principles of engagement, service, and the public good.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience: An earned doctorate from an accredited college or university in a discipline related to one of the disciplines within the College and a record of professional achievement sufficient to be eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor in one of the departments in the College. The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must have successful leadership experience in the administration of academic programs; experience in university-level instruction; a relevant research record; experience in student advisement; and an understanding of the issues unique to engineering, computer science, and technology programs, including assessment and ABET accreditation requirements. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and students; act decisively under stressful situations. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

 

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with the disciplines represented in the college. Research experience in engineering, computer science, technology, and/or engineering/computer science/technology education. Successful grant writing experience and externally funded research; experience with teaching/learning innovation; experience and demonstrated success in curriculum development; familiarity with faculty personnel policy and procedures; and knowledge of student affairs policies and procedures. Experience with scheduling and enrollment management, budget management, and demonstrated success in improving administrative processes and procedures. Commitment to undergraduate and graduate student success, community engagement, and to fostering a collaborative culture.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $6,563 - $21,066/monthly. Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $13,750 - $15,000/monthly) A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

 

Appointment: The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
