We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence (Confidential Administrative Support II). Duties and Responsibilities
|
The Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence (HRIE) provides high-level, confidential, and trusted executive support. The position serves as a key advisor, strategic administrative partner, and primary point of contact within the Office of the Vice President, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the Vice President's priorities, the division's operations, university policies, and the sensitive nature of human resources and labor relations matters.
The position exercises substantial independent judgment and discretion in managing confidential information, assessing and prioritizing matters requiring the Vice President's attention, coordinating executive-level communications, and determining appropriate follow-up and referral. Provides high-level support to the Vice President on sensitive and complex human resources, employee relations, labor relations, compliance, and organizational matters.
Assists the Vice President and Chief of Operations in carrying out all programs and activities of the division and is required to simultaneously carry out a wide range of activities requiring extensive coordination to meet frequent deadlines. Assists with managing the Office of the Vice President and leads of other administrative support staff and student employees. Independently performs varied and specialized administrative and coordination responsibilities to support the Vice President in meeting programmatic and administrative goals. Serves as an extension of the Vice President's office and is expected to anticipate needs, identify emerging issues, facilitate resolution, and ensure that commitments and priorities are appropriately addressed.
The position routinely interacts with the President, Cabinet members, vice presidents, senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, Chancellor's Office representatives, General Counsel, campus partners, union representatives, community members, and external organizations. The Executive Assistant represents the Office of the Vice President with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and a high degree of confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; completion of a professional training program specific to the position and directly related work experience; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Strong analytical, interpersonal, conflict resolution and written/verbal skills. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to create, compose and edit written materials. Investigate and analyze information, reason logically and draw conclusions. Gather and organize documents. Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a timely manner. Interpret, communicate, and apply policies and procedures. Detail oriented and self-directed. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Success in this position requires exceptional organizational skills, emotional intelligence, professional judgment, discretion, diplomacy, responsiveness, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly dynamic executive environment. Maintain a broad understanding of the University's and Division's priorities and serve as a trusted and dependable extension of the Vice President and the Office of the Vice President.
