California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA), seeks an inspiring and innovative leader to serve as Dean of the College of Education (COE). Applications, nominations, and expressions of interest are welcomed.

 

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and working in collaboration with faculty, students, and staff, the dean will provide dynamic, visionary leadership to build upon the strengths of the college and develop new opportunities to fulfill the COE's role as a model of intellectual and community engagement.

The dean provides academic and administrative leadership to the college's three divisions

 

(Applied and Advanced Studies in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Special Education and Counseling) and student services unit. The COE offers two baccalaureate degree programs and eight graduate degree programs, including two doctoral programs and multiple professional credentials and certificates. The COE has 49 tenure track faculty, 120 part-time lecturers and over 1,800 students. With a base budget of approximately $9,000,000, it generates more than 1,600 FTES.

 

The successful candidate will be a compassionate and visionary leader who is an accomplished scholar and, also, has pertinent background as an educational practitioner. Candidates should also have at least five years of progressive experience in academic administration at the level of department chair, or above, that includes strategic planning and communication, shared governance, consultative decision-making, personnel management (faculty and staff), resource management, and quality academic programming and delivery.

 

Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in education or a closely related field and have a record of teaching, scholarship, and service sufficient to merit appointment as a full professor in the college.

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $220,000. The final hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
