TRANSFER CREDIT EVALUATOR 
Evaluator Trainee/Evaluator I
Office of the Registrar/Graduation Unit 

Salary Range: Evaluator Trainee: $3,695 - $4,478/Monthly. Evaluator I: $3,866 - $5,440/Monthly. (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range: $3,695 - $3,866)

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under general supervision of the Associate Registrar for Graduation, the Transfer Credit Evaluator is a key member of the Enrollment Services team. The incumbent's work is primarily focused on the timely and accurate evaluation of transfer credit from other postsecondary sources, ensuring its most efficient use toward the completion of degree requirements. This job contributes directly to student success by improving the quality of information available to academic advisors, thereby supporting the timely completion of degrees and the elimination of the achievement gap. The transfer credit evaluator: reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and processes information, records and transcripts; determines academic credit; and applies that credit to majors, degrees, and other academic goals. The incumbent provides various levels of information, advice, and assistance to students, faculty, and administrative personnel regarding the applicability of transfer credit to specific requirements. If the incumbent reaches Evaluator I level, they may be asked to assist in training Evaluator Trainees. The Evaluator Trainee classification provides opportunity for participation in a formalized, structured program of a one-year duration to acquire the essential knowledge and abilities for successful promotion to the Evaluator I classification.

Required Qualifications & Experience: 

 

Evaluator Trainee: Equivalent to six months responsible experience involving academic, administrative, fiscal or statistical records processing and maintenance, or two years of full-time college with course work specific to development of quantitative and analytical skills.

Evaluator I: Equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation or one year of academic records evaluation experience or any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.

 

Both: The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Equivalent to one year of experience with the following: data entry of transfer credit from a variety of postsecondary sources (e.g. transcript or test score reports); evaluation of credentials for authenticity and applicability; or use of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Transfer Credit Evaluation or Advisor Center modules.
