CUSTODIAL MANAGER

California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator I position.

The Position: Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Facilities Management, the Manager of Custodial Services is responsible for the daily coordination and supervision of Custodians, and Lead Custodians. Oversees custodial operations and provides leadership on a day-to-day basis campus. Maintains fiscal accountability; assures quality control, staff performance and safety training; responsible for the recruitment of custodial staff; administers performance evaluation; develops methodical work scheduling; and maintains computerized records and writing reports. Recommends and makes suggestions pertaining to the preparation of Custodial budget; develops schedules for Custodial Services, considering time, manpower and equipment; works with administration and staff to resolve problems pertaining to Custodial Services. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, or job-related field. An equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, training, and progressively responsible experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position may be considered. Substantive progressively responsible experience supervising the daily operation, maintenance, and coordination of custodial/janitorial services in an industrial/commercial/educational environment demonstrating the application and development of the knowledge and abilities listed above. Knowledge of management practices related to custodial services, collective bargaining, and procedures. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with multiple levels within an organization. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff as well as with management. The ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize workload. Must be computer literate and familiar with MS Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Experience in all manner of custodial work including floor care, cleaning and sanitization of multiple area and finish types including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, conference spaces, kitchens, laboratories, medical facilities, and dining areas. Ability to train staff in the like. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. Desired Qualifications: Working experience within a labor union environment

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $4,135 - $12,288/monthly. Budgeted Hiring Salary range is $ 4,135 - $8,000/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator I appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.

This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
