EAGLE PATROL SUPERVISOR Community Service Specialist I Public Safety

Salary Range: $3,461- $5,043/Monthly (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range: $3,747/Monthly)

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Incumbent will assist in the coordination of the Eagle Patrol Program, including the daily monitoring of student assistants, with the following responsibilities: patrolling and protecting the campus community from hazards such as fire, theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other crimes; assisting in the enforcement of campus rules and regulation; reporting hazardous/dangerous conditions; checking, opening and securing campus facilities; responding to building and room security/fire alarms; and providing general information and service to the public. Security and Public Safety support on assignments involve patrolling of campus buildings, facilities, parking lots, and grounds; unlocking and securing of buildings and doors; providing escorts; general supervisions of Eagle Patrol Student Assistants, including scheduling and providing an appropriate example for your employees to follow; assist other personnel as needed. Provide statistical data related to duties performed by Eagle Patrol personnel for a specific period. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Three to six months of related work experience. Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, the operation of applicable public safety equipment and systems, including security and alarm activation/deactivation systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer-based applications. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate incident reports, as well as excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse campus community. Ability to observe, assess, and respond appropriately to potential safety, security, or emergency situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the campus community. Ability to learn and effectively utilize department-specific systems and technology. Ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently under general supervision, and provide courteous and professional customer service. Possession of a valid California Driver's License. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. A task may be included as part of the interview process.
