Salary Range: $4,047 - $5,896/Monthly (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range: $4,047 - $4,295/Monthly)

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification; temporary position, expires on or before one year from start date; may be extended.

Essential Functions: The Administrative Support Coordinator I is responsible for clerical and administrative support functions for an academic, special programs or administrative offices, and/or performance of the full range of secretarial and administrative support functions for an individual administrative head or small to medium-sized group. Administrative support projects often varied, complex, and long term and involve coordinating, prioritizing, and monitoring through their completion with accountability for end results. The incumbent often is involved in planning and coordinating work in a unit and/or providing lead work direction and/or training and assistance to others. Work may involve addressing a wide range of problems that require interpreting policies and procedures, critical thinking and coordinating and working with individuals at all levels. This position provides comprehensive support to the department chair or administrative head and coordinates a variety of administrative projects that are often varied, complex, and long-term in nature. Responsibilities include planning, prioritizing, and overseeing the completion of work assignments with accountability for results. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in interpreting and applying a wide range of policies and procedures and is frequently involved in the coordination of departmental operations. The Department Coordinator may provide lead work direction, training, and assistance to other support staff, and collaborates with individuals at all organizational levels to resolve issues and ensure operational continuity.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Three years of general office experience, including operational or procedural administrative support work. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and ability to independently perform all technical aspects of assigned work; thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures; thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; thorough knowledge of office systems and a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages; and working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Strong skills in performing standard business mathematics, including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections, as well as drafting correspondence and preparing standard reports. Ability to independently manage multiple work unit priorities and projects; independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; and effectively interact with a broad range of individuals, including higher-level contacts and those involving sensitive matters. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. A task may be included as part of the interview process.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; familiarity with university administrative processes and procedures pertaining to the assigned office or department.
