ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, IT INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES


California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.

The Position: In accordance with CSU and University policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible for the technical and administrative management of the data center, desktop services, and cloud computing services as well as the management of technical staff supporting the operations and maintenance of enterprise-level IT infrastructure services. The incumbent develops, deploys, and maintains a faculty, staff, and student workstation computing program that includes endpoint services, software evaluation, testing and distribution; anti-virus protection, security software patching; new technology evaluation; laptop configuration and security; and desktop forensics. The incumbent provides leadership, technical support, planning, and project management for all enterprise-level servers, storage, appliances, operating systems, identity management, desktop operations, and infrastructure-related applications. The incumbent develops procedures, policies, and standards for the daily operations and lifecycle of computing systems and services used by the University and manages the fiscal and human resources associated with them.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business Information Systems or related field. Two years substantive responsible supervisory management experience of computer operations organization operating hardware and software comparable to the CSULA operating environment. Working knowledge of disaster recovery planning and execution for systems and business continuity planning and execution for services with the ability to develop a Business Contingency Plan for restoring business processes for all campus constituents. Comprehensive knowledge of modern server operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux, and other Linux variants. Knowledge of: VMware virtualization systems, Microsoft Hyper-V, and other virtualization platforms; Storage Area Networks and networked server storage platforms; server and storage hardware and its integration into a networked environment; Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS cloud computing environments; Microsoft Office 365 email and communications environments; Ethernet networks, TCP /IP LANs, Virtual Private Networks (VPN); and network operations or equivalent large client-server/ distributed network environment. Knowledge of: network hardware including switches, routers, and firewalls; Aruba/HP Wi-Fi network systems and monitoring systems; and Microsoft Office software, including MS Project and Visio. Excellent-oral and written communication skills. Must possess the ability to act decisively under stressful situations. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Public Administration. Knowledge of: CSU CENIC network topology. systems backup solutions;  Oracle database organization and file structures; Palo Alto firewall systems;  HP One View; VMware Vsphere; and IT work classification standards, performance evaluation standards, preparing job descriptions, and personnel hiring practices.

 

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $4,812 - $15,449/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

 

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
