ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF PAT BROWN INSTITUTE

California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.

The Position: The Pat Brown Institute (the Institute) at Cal State LA, is a non-partisan organization dedicated to “unleashing the power of participation” with a focus on civic education and public policy research. Under the civic education and engagement rubrics, the Institute coordinates programming such as Civic U©, candidate debates, Next Generation Engagement program, James Galbraith Fellowship and Civic Quiz. Our public policy and research program focuses on developing pathbreaking survey and research projects regarding racial/ethnic groups, equity and public policy in Los Angeles. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Executive Director of the Institute, the Associate Director has managerial responsibility for the Institute’s day-to-day operational and programmatic activities. The incumbent must have the ability to provide grant and contract management guidance and will be an authorized resource manager of the Institute, overseeing the operational and programmatic budget, and reviewing financial documents. The Associate Director is a thought partner with the Executive Director as part of the Institute’s leadership team. The Associate Director represents the Institute on campus and in the community along with, and in the absence of, the Executive Director.

Required Qualifications & Experience: A master's degree in management, public administration, political science, or related field. Three years of experience with program, grant and general contract management. Demonstrated commitment to public policy, a proven record of accomplishment working with diverse public and private sectors, experience making public presentations, and collaborating with communities. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

 

Appointment:  The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
